Business Overview of Two Major Exhibitors at the Food Equipment Show
Packaging equipment giant XYP (8421) and transmission system component manufacturer Chieftek Precision (CPC, 1597) have both seen an improvement in recent orders. Both companies are pursuing growth in revenue and profit this year and have concurrently participated in the Taipei International Food Processing Machinery Show, organized by TAITRA, which kicked off on the 26th. Having turned a profit in the first quarter, XYP expects its operations to trend upward quarter by quarter. The company is actively exhibiting to secure orders for new plant constructions or equipment replacements from major food and beverage players.
In addition, CPC, which started by producing miniature linear guides, has expanded into transmission system components such as large linear guides and ball screws in recent years. A CPC executive stated that orders from the semiconductor and electronics industries are heating up, with two months of orders currently on hand. At this year's food equipment show, the company is primarily promoting its robotic arms. Amid the AI boom, they are utilizing small robotic arms equipped with vision systems for object tracking and AI calculations. They also plan to participate in the TPCA Show in October to further increase exposure.
CPC pointed out that another robotic arm featured at the exhibition has built-in software and a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), capable of completing the full coffee-making process—from picking up the cup to pouring coffee and frothing milk. Several convenience store chains have expressed interest and intend to discuss potential collaborations.
XYP, having turned a profit in Q1, is actively participating in domestic and international exhibitions to secure orders from major food and beverage brands. This marks its first time participating in the TAITRA-organized food equipment show since going public. The company is showcasing products designed for energy efficiency and addressing current labor shortages, including intelligent fully automated feeding systems, high-efficiency energy-saving shrink sleeve labeling machines, laminated flexible packaging, and shrink labels. The high-performance labeling machine emphasizes a reduction of over 70% in power consumption, significantly lowering carbon emissions and aligning with ESG standards.
Rita Chuang, General Manager of XYP, stated that in response to the US-China trade war, XYP has integrated resources from its companies in Taiwan, Brazil, and Indonesia to expand its market. The company has secured shrink film orders from international giants, including Coke plants in Mexico and Brazil, CCU in Europe, and major brands in Japan, France (Danone), the US (Pepsi), and French dairy companies. Moving forward, the goal is to secure equipment orders from these major players.
Chuang noted that major domestic food and beverage companies such as Uni-President, I-Mei, Kuang Chuan, and Vitalon all use XYP labeling machines. The intelligent fully automated feeding systems and high-efficiency labeling machines exhibited this time are priced at approximately US$250,000 per set. International buyers have already shown interest and are scheduled to negotiate prices at the venue. The goal is to secure at least three on-site orders. Following this, the company will participate in food equipment shows in India, Indonesia, and Chicago, while also seeking "trade-in" orders for equipment upgrades from domestic customers.
XYP further pointed out that its Indonesian plant, which previously operated on leased land, is now constructing its own facility after purchasing land, with completion expected by year-end. Under a future strategic adjustment, the Taiwan plant will focus primarily on the domestic market. The Indonesian plant, in addition to producing shrink film for local demand, will develop "economy-model" labeling machines specifically for the Indonesian, ASEAN, and Indian markets, targeting export markets outside of Taiwan.
